I NOTE with interest and dismay the request to demolish the Piano Building in Kidderminster town centre.

So it comes to pass, just as we expected.

Yes, you can have a cinema in Kidderm-inster, but at the sacrifice of one of the remaining old buildings in the town.

This smacks of being held to ransom for an amenity which is on the wish list of a large proportion of local residents.

One cannot believe that the planners, architects and designers involved could not devise a plan which would allow this fine old building to be refurbished and utilised.

Are they that devoid of any imagination? Perhaps commonsense is not required when examining planning applications.

Thank goodness B&Q has come up with a more viable proposition.

A four-screen cinema on Crossley Park - where parking is available and a modern building is already vacant for adaptation - is a sensible and preferred alternative.

Crossley Park is not that far from the town centre, as people park there now and walk into Kidderminster.

Hopefully it would also help to regenerate Mill Street as new shops which have opened there would benefit from passing trade.

People of Kidderminster give voice to retaining your heritage.
