A REVELLER had to be rescued by firefighters after falling into a Kidderminster river in the early hours of Sunday.

The young woman, thought to be in her 20s, was pulled out of the River Stour near the junction of New Road and Castle Road.

Sub officer Mick Rowlands, of Kidderminster fire station, said officers were called to the scene at around 2.30am.

"Somehow a female reveller managed to get herself into the river," he said.

"She was pulled out and delivered into the hands of an ambulance".

The woman was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital casualty department but later discharged with no injuries.
