BROADWAY youth leaders are appealing to firms, businesses and individuals to help them raise cash for a skateboard and BMX track.
The project is moving a step nearer now a formal application for a grant has been accepted by Wychavon District Council.
Vice-chairman of the youth management committee, Amanda Peters, has applied to the council for a grant of £20,000.
The committee is also organising a number of sponsored events, and preparing applications for grants from other organisations, including the national lottery.
Mrs Peters said: "Things are moving forward, we are very glad to say. Wychavon has acknowledged our application, and now we just have to wait and see, but we have other fund-raising ideas in the pipeline."
Chairman of the Broadway Youth Centre, Betty Phillips said: "The skate park is our priority because our young people have campaigned for it for so long.
"We have a family barbecue at the end of this month and a sponsored night hike next month to raise money for our centre.
"We would be very grateful if other organisations or businesses in the village could also help us see their way to raising money for the young people
Our next fund-raising activity is a family barbecue on Saturday, June 29.
Last year Broadway parish councillors agreed to make available a piece of land on the village recreation ground for the project, to enable it to progress.
