IT is different in France - over there, chanson has long been an integral part of la vie, and Monique, currently on tour, brings this tradition bang up to date.
Together with her musicians, Monique creates the authentic atmosphere of a Parisian boite in a contemporary cabaret style. She combines the finest chansons and jazz numbers with some provocative, intriguing contemporary French songs and her own distinct, amused take on life and love in France.
French chanson can encompass every aspect of the human condition - even a new currency. But it is best known for dealing with the big themes of love, life and death in a vibrant, dramatic and theatrical fashion.
A Little Bit of French is at The Theatre, Chipping Norton, on Saturday, June 29, at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 from the box office on 01608 642350.
