WHILE the senior side were struggling for runs, Pershore's second string rattled up an impressive 241-7 but it still wasn't sufficient to land a victory.

Steve Meers was the star with a superb 112 - his maiden century - and he helped skipper Stu Evans add 157 for the fourth wicket.

However, Old Elizabethans had embarked on a run spree themselves at Perdiswell and their daunting score of 277-3 from 42 overs proved to many for a gallant Pershore.

Meers and Steve Emsley both took splendid catches to remove the home side's top scorers but the loss of opener Walker without a run on the board was a huge blow.

Ben Bales and Meers added 50 for the second wicket but, despite the latter's terrific ton, Pershore had to settle for a losing draw.

The seconds returned home victorious from the next day's Sunday League trip to Swindon after the hosts had been restricted to 147-8.

Veteran Martin Woodward returned magnificent figures of 6-10 from nine overs and similar economy from the Swindon pair after tea denied the visitors a decent start.

However, Meers (31), John Brookes (29) and Rob Handley (28) lifted the reply to 123-4 with 11 overs left and it was left to Lionel Keitley to hit an unbeaten 19 to take his side to a four-wicket win with eight balls to spare.
