BRETFORTON broke their Cotswold Hills league duck while inflicting further misery on reigning champions Bidford.

Alec Evans grabbed 4-37 as the visitors were dismissed for 158 but, when they lost three cheap wickets in reply, the basement side was in trouble.

However, Martin (71) and Barber (31) staged a vital recovery and, despite three late scalps for Richard Layton, Bretforton won by four wickets.

The winners, though, remain rooted to the bottom but there are clear leaders at the summit after Kineton's seven-wicket win at Twyning and depleted Exhall's defeat at home to Elmley Castle.

There could be significant changes at the tops of Divisions One and Two this Saturday when the leading pairs lock horns.

Rowington, narrow first division winners over Norton Lindsey last weekend, face Winchcombe, who defeated Alcester and Ragley on faster scoring rate.

Moreton-in-Marsh's unblemished record in Division Three will be put to the test against closest rivals Henley.

Broadway's excellent run chase against Stratford lifted them several places up the first division table thanks to fine knocks from Evans (70no) and Ashraf (42).

There were mixed fortunes for Harvington as the club's senior side easily overhauled the 140-8 posted by Stratford Bards but the second string lost by seven wickets at the hands of Eckington.

Heath hit 55 of the Stratford side's total but an unbeaten half-century from McNally and 49 from Taylor eased the visitors to an eight-wicket triumph.

Skipper and opening batsman, Trevor Knowles, carried his bat for an unbeaten 87 as Harving-ton's second string, still without a win, were dismissed for 149.

Rajalingham and Cutler got the pursuit off to a fine start and Eckington's fourth successive away success was sealed as Dave Barrett (51no) completed a fine individual all-round display.
