PROMISING wicket-keeper Steve Davies will make the step up from Kidderminster Cricket Club to England U-17s next week.
The 16-year-old, who has opened the batting for the Birmingham League Division One club this season, faces Yorkshire's Academy at Scarborough on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Davies is rated highly by Worcestershire after figuring for the county second string and cricket board.
The teenager, who progressed through Victoria and Blakeley Hall's youth system, has represented his country at younger age groups in the past.
Kidderminster, meanwhile, are determined to return to winning ways in the league with Saturday's short trip to Worcester.
They slipped to fifth-from-bottom in the table with the weekend losing draw against Leamington.
The town were also knocked out of the National Knockout Cup on Sunday at the regional semi-final stage with a home defeat to Premier League Walsall.
Gurdeep Kandola and Mark Mansell hit 99 and 70 respectively in the games but skipper Sean Lloyd will be looking for crucial points on the board this weekend.
