LIFE as a student in a city college was the subject of the day for hundreds of Worcester schoolchildren.

Worcester College of Technology (WCT), in Deansway, held the first of its taster days yesterday.

Year 10 pupils from all the city high schools, as well as The Chantry in Martley, are taking part in the visits.

"They'll all have had the chance to choose a department area," said Chris Brown, lecturer in general education at WCT.

"Everything from music to catering, A-levels to engineering is on offer.

"It's a chance to find out what life is like at college."

The pupils were able to meet students and lecturers to get a grasp on what to expect should they choose to enrol at the college.

"It's good for them to find out what it's like before they arrive," said Mr Brown.

"They tend to say it's been useful."
