A FAMILY cat is not expected to live after its legs were broken and it was shoved down a storm drain in a sadistic attack.
Vets are currently caring for the cat, known as Flick, after it was left overnight dangling in the storm drain with its paws trapped under the drain cover in Windmill Lane in Kempsey.
Police believe the incident happened between 7pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday, June 18.
"I came home from work at about 9.30pm and I heard a strange noise, which must have been him crying," said Flick's owner, who did not wish to be named.
"But it wasn't until the next morning that we found him in the drain," she said.
"I am very distressed."
"We are offering a substantial reward for any information leading to the conviction of the person or person involved in the sadistic beating of a grey cat in Windmill Lane in Kempsey," said the owner's father.
Flick is one-year-old grey Siamese-cross.
"This is an absolutely appalling incident," said PC Alan Knowles.
