SEVERN Valley Railway engine driver John Robinson was extremely impressed with the latest "Black 5" locomotive designs from model maker Hornby.
Being in control of his own larger version of the Class 5 4-6-0 locomotive, he approved of the intricate detail on the latest miniature models - which replace those originally conceived more than 30 years ago.
The new LMS Black 5 designs feature three different boiler and firebox profiles, smooth and riveted tenders and tall and short funnels.
New hatches, sand hoppers, fine printing and pipes underneath the loco are also differences from the first "famous 5" designs made in 1972.
The three new designs, LMS 4-6-0, BR 4-6-0 (lined) and BR 4-6-0 (weathered addition) will be available from mid July to early August.
