IN St Peter's Church a service of thanksgiving was held to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. Hymns chosen for the occasion included Praise my soul the King of Heaven, Be Still, for the presence of the Lord and I vow to Thee my Country. The lessons were read by Geoffrey and Ellen Moore and were taken from Revelations in the New Testament and the Old Testament reading was from Kings 1. Reverend Chris Moss officiated and Edward Lane was the organist. After the service refreshments were enjoyed outside in the sunshine.
A progressive supper was held in the Church End part of the village on Monday, June 3. Venues for the evening were Paynes Place for starters, Wellingtonia House for the main course and desserts were served at Double Gate Farm. Tickets were £10 each. The profit from the evening, amounting to over £900, benefits St Peter's Church.
The monthly whist drive was held on Wednesday, May 29. Winners were J Rusling, M Russell, J Palmer, M Milling-ton, O Timmes, D Dawe, G Quiney, R Baxter, L Quiney, A Spry, P Gisby an P Warner. D Warren was the MC and there were 11 tables in play.
The next whist drive will be held in the village hall at 8pm on Wednesday, June 26.
Another reminder of our village fete to be held on Bushley Green on Saturday, June 22, starting at 3pm. There are many stalls and attractions and fun and games for all the family.
Teas and refreshments will also be served. In the evening, there will be a pig roast and the evening will conclude with a firework display. It is well worth a visit, do come and enjoy the day in a lovely village setting.
