ON Sunday, June 16, the benefice
Confirmation Service was held in St Mary's Church at 11am. The Bishop of Worcester, the Right Reverend Dr Peter Selby, confirmed four candidates: Tom Franklin and Victoria Page from Longdon parish and Hannah Wheeler and Simon Kirkham from Bredon School. The candidates reaffirmed the promises made on their behalf at baptism and received anointing with oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop.
Also on Sunday, the second farmers' market was held at the Hunter's Inn from 11am-2pm. It is planned that a market will be held every third Sunday in the month. Lunches are served all day. This is an chance to support farming and take pride in the countryside.
On Monday, June 24, the Age Concern mobile day centre, On the Move, will be at Longdon Village Hall. Members are served coffee on arrival at 10.30am and a lunch is provided by the WRVS. The session finishes at 2.30pm and includes quizzes, bingo and some gentle exercise. Minibus transport, basic foot care and hairdressing are also available.
On Tuesday, June 25, the benefice magazine will be printed and collated in Longdon Vicarage from 9am-4pm. On Wednesday, June 26, Longdon Churchwomen's Fellowship will be meeting in the Village Hall at 7.30pm to enjoy a talk and slide show on Manhattan by Dr A Brown of Malvern.
