YOUNGSTERS at Colwall Primary School have proved just how good they are with bat and ball by winning the county finals of a Kwik Cricket competition.
A team of 10 players from the school, eight boys and two girls, resisted the challenge of 78 other primary schools to win the Herefordshire County Finals held at the Luctonians ground in Leominster last week.
The team will now go on to compete in the regional finals of the 'mini-version' of the cricket game in Walsall in July.
Headmaster Richard Southall said: "There's been somewhat of an elated response in school because this was quite an amazing feat by the children here."
He also praised the sportsmanship shown by the Colwall players in the tournament.
The school team had previously won a local tournament staged at Colwall cricket ground.
