THE founder of a Madresfield children's club has been nominated as Playworker of the Year in the sixth annual Excellence in Childcare Awards.
On Tuesday, June 25, Cath Glover, who started Madresfield Kids' Club in 1996, will attend a star-studded bash organised by national childcare charity Kids Clubs Network at the Tate Modern, in London, where the winner of the award will be announced.
The prize is a £1,000 jmc holiday voucher, with two runners-up due to take home £500 worth of vouchers each.
Judges, who went to video and see Cath in action on Tuesday (June 18), said that it was her excellent rapport with children and parents and her willingness to go the extra mile or make any activity work that had won her a place in the finals.
Anne Longfield, chief executive of Kids' Clubs Network, said: "Cath is an exceptionally dedicated playworker and it's great to see professional childcare workers receiving recognition for their hard work."
Cath said: "I'm overjoyed to be considered for the Playworker of the Year award. Everyone keeps asking me where I'll go if I win. Everyone's very excited."
Other awards in the competition will go to Most Creative Activity Programme, Prima Childcare of the Year, Childminder of the Year and Prima Baby Nursery Worker of the Year.
