TWENTY Malvern people travelled to London on Wednesday to join 13,500 campaigners calling for fairer trade deals for the world's poorest countries.

The West Worcestershire contingent asked local MP Sir Michael Spicer to sign an Early Day Motion for trade justice.

Malvern Churches Justice and Peace Group convener Eileen Richardson said: "When we met Michael Spicer we asked him to sign an EDM but he didn't like the wording. He spent a lot of time with us talking about the different points, particularly about GM crops and farming subsidies."

The group hopes the lobby will have influenced next week's G8 summit in Canada and EU summit in Spain. For further information about thegroup, contact Mrs Eileen Richardson on 01684 560417.
