THE critique of the recent performance given by Malvern Festival Chorus, which was published in the Malvern Gazette (Friday, June 14) leads me to wonder if I was present at the same concert.
I was not aware of any 'lack of projection', nor did I feel the soloist 'ran out of steam'. I am sure that constructive comments are welcomed by all except the most arrogant of performers. I feel that your report was unnecessarily negative and on reflection I do not recall ever having read a positive critique of the Festival Chorus by your correspondent.
A public performance of any kind calls for a great deal of work and commitment by all concerned and a little encouragement would not go amiss.
I would like to make it clear that I am not a particular fan of Sir Edward's music, and I take exception to the fact that your correspondent appears to believe that Malvern audiences are not interested in the music of other composers, nor am I a disgruntled member of the Festival Chorus!
