A HIGH-tech engineering company based near Pershore is hoping to move to Malvern Link's Enigma business park.

Bauromat (UK) Ltd has submitted a planning application to build three industrial units on land off Sparrowhawk Close.

The application says one unit will be used for the manufacture of robots for engineering applications, development of robots and training of operators. The use of the second and third units are "not finalised".

The plan, submitted to Malvern Hills District Council, shows the three-unit building with a 46-space car park, landscaped grounds with tree planting and a water feature.

The company is described as designer and integrator of special-purpose machines. Clients include the automotive industry and Oxford Magnets, makers of MRI scanners for medicine.

It is currently based on a business park at Wyre Piddle, near Pershore.

Managing director Gordon Biggs said the firm, which is about five years old, is hoping to expand.

He said: "We're systems integrators; we solve problems using robots."

The firm currently employs nine people and Mr Biggs says there is the possibility of up to ten new jobs when the move is made.

"There were several possible sites we looked at, but Malvern offered the most advantages. The price of land was too high nearer the motorway," he said.

He said the company would be ready to start building very shortly if planning permission is granted.
