A BOYS' Brigade parade in Malvern town centre last Sunday (June 16) was nearly disrupted when drivers tried to ignore marshals.
The parade route, from the police station in Victoria Road to the Baptist church in Abbey Road, was closed to traffic by order of Malvern Hills District Council.
Paul Hern, captain of the Malvern company, said: "Several drivers tried to ignore the traffic marshals and thereby potentially jeopardised the safety of parade participants. The police were in attendance and interviewed drivers."
The event was the annual parade of the Gloucestershire Battalion, to which Malvern belongs. Some 140 boys, plus parents, friends and members of the 1st Malvern Company Girls' Brigade took part.
Coun Mary Wilkinson, chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, took the salute.
A collection during the service raised over £100 for the Boys' Brigade international charity work.
