NOMADS return to winning ways was halted in no uncertain terms at the hands of Bewdley in the WCL Division Two.

WORCESTER NOMADS v BEWDLEY

Without opener Harris, Nomads batting line-up was noticeably weaker than normal and so it proved. Inserted yet again, Nomads made headway through Malcolm Jones, who again reached the half-century mark, making 51 before playing on, when he perhaps could have gone much further.

Jerry Matts proved a useful foil for him, making 30, but the home side lost the impetus and completed their allotment of overs with only 142-9 on the board.

Bewdley made light work of the reply, losing only two wickets as they crashed their way to victory. Opener Jones was undefeated on 57, and found good support from Edwards with 33 and Bennett undefeated on 30. Bewdley duly completed the win by eight wickets.

BEWDLEY II v WORCESTER NOMADS II

NOMADS Seconds had the better of this WCL Division Three encounter and were thwarted only by a determined last few overs defense from the home side.

Nomads batted first and were more than a little pleased to see Steve Medley make his first appearance of the season, with an emphatic innings full of aggression and stroke-play.

Medley's innings of 94 was the backbone of the total of 239-7, sharing a second-wicket stand of 111 with Pearson, before he fell to a top-edged sweep six short of a much deserved century.

Gerry Kelly, Miles Illingworth and Steve Wilks kept the innings going, and only Halkon of the home bowlers, with 4-30 late on, looked threatening.

Bewdley, who lay second in the table at the start of the afternoon, didn't get off to the start they needed, losing two early wickets before skipper Jones and Hartley steadied things.

Jones fell leg before and although Hartley kept the momentum going, making a useful 47, he found his fellow players unable to stay around long enough to look capable of making the necessary runs.

Wickets fell after his departure, and it was only the defiance of Mills at the end which kept Nomads from taking all 24 points.

WORCESTER NOMADS III v FECKENHAM III

NOMADS Thirds met Feckenham Thirds in a well contested WCL game.

After being put in by the home side Feckenham found scoring runs difficult in the face of accurate bowling by Gary Sandbrook (1-32), Neil Claytor (3-42) and James Smith (2-19).

Skipper Daniels made a solid 30, but Nomads control of the game was loosened by some enterprising batting by the experienced Watkin (23no) and Kirk (32no). Feckenham finished on 150-7.

After a reasonable start Nomads lost the in-form Brown for eight and Evans for nine and it was an uphill struggle thereafter. Isaacs batted well for 23, but after Sandbrook had to retire hurt, having aggravated a recent injury, Nomads stayed in the match solely due to very impressive efforts from James Smith (37no) and Nigel Dexter (21).

Ultimately, Nomads closed on 125-6 with the result a winning draw to Feckenham for whom Kirk and Perry bowled excellent spells.
