MALVERN College batsmen played the King's Gloucester attack on a featherbed of a wicket at Malvern last Saturday.
Wood proceeded calmly and purposefully towards his inevitable 100, Gifford provided solid support for 70no and Edkins weighed in with a half century full of clean hitting. Malvern declared at 241-3 and then set about dismantling the King's resistance.
This they achieved by virtue of attacking the stumps and testimony of their bowlers' accuracy was provided by the fact that seven of the dismissals were bowled. King's crumbed to 99 all out, the main destroyers being Vaughan (4-39) and Latter (3-18) and Malvern had completed a thoroughly satisfying 140 run victory.
Malvern College 241-3 dec (Wood 100, Gifford 70no, Edkins 57).
King's Gloucester 99 (Vaughan 4-39, Latter 3-18).
