WORCESTER NOMADS U11S B

WORCESTER Nomads U11s B side were in action recently in the Bishop Trophy against local rivals Worcester, who won by 68 runs.

Once again Nomads were beaten by a stronger team. The batting improved but scoring was restricted by accurate bowling and hindered by two run outs, as they finished on 192-6.

Worcester got off to a good start with some good strokes backed up by good running between wickets and were worthy winners. Jones and Ledsham both made 14. Thompson took a fine catch for Nomads.

WORCESTER NOMADS U13S v DROITWICH U13S

IN the U13s league, against Droitwich, the Nomads side won by 35 runs in a game reduced to just 12 overs a side by the black clouds that were circling.

Nomads were comfortable winners with Tom Longley making a very confident 33 retired and Tom Brain a steady 21, in the Nomads total of 79-2. Nomads' early bowlers were able to contain the Droitwich batsmen as they struggled to 44-6. Late on Tom Bryant took 2-3 and James Sleigh 3-1 in the last two overs. Twelve-year-old's Sleigh's wickets were with the last three balls of the innings and so he was presented with the match ball for his first 'hat trick'.

MALVERN U13S v

WORCESTER NOMADS U13S

IN the cup competition, the Nomads U13s were again in action, making progress into the third round at the expense of Malvern.

Malvern batted first and struggled to 53-8 from their allotted overs, Poole top scoring for 13, before being stumped by Tom Illingworth off Josh Stafford. Ford took 2-6, Bryant 2-8 and Stafford 2-13, as the wickets were shared around.

In reply Nomads cantered to victory by the wide margin of eight wickets, from only 11 overs, thanks largely to an excellent batting performance from Tom Illingworth, who made an undefeated 28, getting good support from Tom Brain, who was also unbeaten on 10.

COLWALL U10S v

WORCESTER NOMADS U10S

WORCESTER Nomads U10s recorded their first win in Worcs U10s league against Colwall.

Nomads lost the toss and were asked to bat. Despite early setbacks, Nomads scored 244 off their 20 overs, with extras topping the scoring. Nomads batsmen showed resolute defence and lost only five wickets.

Colwall in reply struggled to recover after the first few overs and a steady loss of wickets left Colwall on 214. Nomads won by 30 runs, largely through a great team performance, particularly from such a young side, with some excellent fielding and support, both from each other and from the watching parents.

WORCESTER NOMADS U13S v BARNARDS GREEN U13S

A YOUNG Barnards Green U13s recently visited Worcester Nomads U13s and came away with an excellent victory by seven runs.

Batting first the Green made a steady start through Liam Paddock (10) and Richard Tuck but were unable to dispatch the bad balls to the boundary. Phil Harris (11) batted solidly and was well supported by Harry Pleass (5no) and at the end of their 20 overs the Green had scored 52-5. Nomads' bowler stuck to their task with Ed Brew being the pick with 2-2.

In reply, Nomads were always on the back foot due to some excellent bowling from Phil Harris 2-6 and Liam Paddock 2-2. John Cook (12) showed good application before he was well caught by Harry Pleass who also had three run outs, two from direct hits, as Nomads fought hard to stay in the game.

When Adam Price bowled Ed Brew off the last ball of the penultimate over Barnards Green were left victorious by seven runs in an excellent match on a cold summers evening.

COLWALL U11s v

WORCESTER NOMADS U11s

WORCESTER Nomads won this keenly contested U11s match thanks to some accurate bowling.

Colwall, bowling first with a side weakened by District trials, found wickets hard to come by. Nomads batsmen defended well and built a steady score.

Wickets finally came for Kit Lister, William Bishop, Rhys Davey and Daniel Allam, but Nomads were able to post a challenging score of 225 after 16 overs.

In reply Colwall openers Davey and Lister batted well against an excellent opening attack, to take the score to 224. A determined Nomads however fought back and, with wickets starting to be lost, Colwall began to lose the momentum. Finally, despite scoring the most runs, Colwall lost by 17 runs because of the nine wickets conceded.

A special mention to Jonty Hylands who skippered the Colwall side well; Will Jennings for his enthusiastic fielding and for George Lacey and Chris Harris making their debuts.
