Not many people have heard of Laburnum Walk. That is the name which has lately been given to the footpath leading from the Worcester Road to the Rural Hospital. Those who reside in the neighbourhood never presume to use such a dignified title. They have various names for the path most of which defy alike pronunciation and orthography. In wet weather it is called simply "The Canal". Simply but appropriately.

Emily Hankins, the housekeeper for Mr E Carr, The Bell Inn, New Street, summoned her mother-in-law, Harriet Hankins, for using obscene language towards her. Complainant could not repeat the words used, but they had been reduced to writing and handed in. Defendant shouted out language several times at the door of Bell Inn, Ledbury. The June Rose Revels organised by the Social Committee of St Matthias's Church, Malvern Link, and held on Thursday of last week on the Vicarage lawn proved a popular rendezvous for many Link residents. Nearly £300 was raised.

Anthrax has killed four foxhounds of the North Ledbury Hunt, and ten others are feared to have contracted the disease. The remainder of the 26 couples have been vaccinated. The dead animals have been cremated and the police carried out a very extensive disinfection of the premises, using flame guns. Ledbury Reporter, June 25, 1952.

Skateboarding claimed its first Malvern casualty this week. Ian Hutchinson, 13, was taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary from a thigh broken in an accident with a skateboard. He is reported to be "quite comfortable" but could be there for six weeks. Malvern Gazette, June 23, 1977.

The Playing Fields of Ledbury County Secondary School became a battle ground on Thursday. An injured pilot was winched to safety by a Royal Navy helicopter. It was part of a Royal Navy and Royal Marine display, in front of the whole school. Ledbury Reporter, June 23, 1977.
