TWO men are recovering at home after being involved in an argument with a group armed with "weapons," Worcester police have revealed.

The incident happened in the Langdale Drive area of Warndon after England's World Cup clash with Argentina.

But police do not think the attack is connected to football.

They said the two victims argued with a group of other men, who then attacked them with some form of weapon or weapons.

The injured men suffered head injuries and had to be taken to hospital to be treated.

None of the residents in the area who were approached by the Evening News were prepared to talk about what happened.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who thinks they may have seen people in the area with a weapon or an object that could have been used as a weapon.

The attack took place at about 3pm on Friday, June 7, but details have only just been released.

DC Mandi Sidhu of Worcester police, one of the leading officers in the case, has appealed to anyone with any information to get in touch.

"We would like anyone in the area of Langdale Drive to cast their minds back to Friday, June 7, and recall the if they saw the fight or anyone carrying a weapon," said DC Sidhu.

"I am also keen to speak to anyone who saw a white van which was parked nearby.

"The two men's injuries were serious and both men are now recovering at home.

"I would appeal to anyone who thinks they have information regarding these assaults to contact me on 01905 723888 quoting c/593361.
