100 years ago - September 28, 1901
Evesham: Ronald Victor Payton, of Edgbaston, was summoned for riding his bicycle without a light on September 14. PC Dainty said that on Saturday at a quarter to ten, he saw the defendant on Greenhill without a light. He saw defendant had no light on and advised him not to ride again, but he jumped on his machine and continued to ride. Fined 10s including costs.
75 years ago - October 2, 1926
Evesham: Harvest thanksgiving services were conducted in Broadway Congregational Church on Sunday last by the Rev Alfred Bonser. The church had been tastefully decorated and there were good congregations.
50 years ago - September 29, 1951
ELMLEY Castle: Elmley Castle Community Centre celebrated its first anniversary on Wednesday evening. In the early part of the evening, children enjoyed a tea party and cinema show. Later the adults took over for an evening of games and dancing.
25 years ago - September 30, 1976
Evesham: The Richmond Sausage Company's 504 employees were told yesterday that the factory will close in 18 months time. They are caught in a rent dispute between the company and its landlord, Beach's, next door. The factory, which has been in Evesham for 25 years and produces pies and sausages, is leased by Richmond's parent company, Wall's Meat, from the site owners, Sir James Goldsmith's Cavenham Foods, parent company of T W Beach and Sons.
