100 years ago - August 24, 1901
Fladbury: Thomas Hampton, gardener, Shor Street, was charged with being drunk on August 9. PC Poulson said at 10.40am he saw the defendant being taken down Bridge Street in a drunken condition by two men. Defendant said he had been fishing all day at Fladbury and has had a drop of beer and a little wine, and mixing it together overcame him. Fined 5s including costs.
75 years ago - August 28, 1926
Evesham: Mr S.A. Hutchinson (the highway surveyor) presented the plans for the Worcestershire, Shropshire and Staffordshire Electric Light Company showing the route of the proposed electric main through the town and district, the scheme to be put in operation almost immediately.
50 years ago - August 25, 1951
Evesham: While Britain's largest crop of plums ripened in the Vale of Evesham this week, plum growers anxiously awaited the outcome of a visit to the Vale from a Ministry of Agriculture deputation of three. The deputation arrived last Friday at the request of the Worcestershire branch of the NFU to get first hand information on the effect that the acute shortage of tin-plate is having on the marketing and canning of plums in the district.
25 years ago - August 26, 1976
Evesham: Police are investigating the disappearance of two ferrets from 17 Mill Street, Evesham. Both females, one brown and black and the other white, they vanished from their cage in the back garden on Saturday night.
