100 years ago - June 29, 1901
Pershore: John Kettle, a groom of High Green, Severn Stoke, was charged at Pershore Petty Sessions with being drunk while in charge of a horse on June 7 in Defford. PC Bennett said he saw defendant riding a horse on the Defford Road. He saw that the defendant was drunk and then took it himself to Pillerton. Fined 10s and 8s costs.
75 years ago - July 3, 1926
Evesham: William Henry Sollis, a market gardener of Bretforton, was summoned to Evesham Petty Sessions for keeping a dog without a license. He admitted the offence and said it was an oversight. PC Robinson gave evidence and a fine of 7s 6d was imposed.
50 years ago - June 30, 1951
Evesham: Judges gave high praise to the quality of Vale produce at the NFU Market Produce Show at Olympia in London, this week. The Vale finished eight points behind the winners, who were Surrey growers with a total of 80 points. For a non-competitive exhibit, Littleton and Badsey Growers were awarded a cup.
25 years ago - July 1, 1976
Evesham: The use of hosepipes for washing cars and watering gardens has been banned in 24 South Worcestershire villages. The ban, which came into effect yesterday, has been introduced by the East Worcestershire Waterworks Co. It will affect about 600 license holders, and many others who use hosepipes without a license.
