100 years ago - May 11, 1901

Broadway: Charles Wallace, a carpenter of Laverton, was charged with leaving a horse and cart unattended in Broadway Street on March 29 in such a position to obstruct the traffic. PS Lewis proved seeing the defendant's cart opposite the Swan Hotel and watched it for about 25 minutes, during which time no-one approached it. Fined 5s 6d and 6s costs.

75 years ago - May 15, 1926

Bengeworth: Special rogation services of intercession were held at St Peter's Church, Bengeworth, on Monday and Tuesday evenings, when special prayers were offered for the settlement of the general strike, and for the blessing of the crops. The services were conducted by Rev AH Lewis who originally intended to visit some of the gardens in the neighbourhood for the purpose of blessing of the crops. Owing to the unsettled weather, however, this had to be abandoned.

50 years ago - May 12, 1951

Cotswolds: Reflections of a country bred broadcaster was the subject of an interesting talk given by Mr Charles Gardiner of the Young Conservatives at their fortnightly meeting in Church House on Monday. He was very enthusiastically received and members asked many questions. Mr C Cox was in the chair.

25 years ago - May 13, 1976

Evesham: Evesham has formed an official twinning association to strengthen its link with the French town of Dreux. The decision was taken at a meeting on Monday after a steering committee put the proposal to a public meeting attended by representatives of the town's clubs and organisations.
