DISABLED anglers have been given a huge boost with the opening of an angling platform in Pershore.
The platform on the River Meadow was officially opened on Saturday, with the head of the British Disabled Anglers Association, Terry Moseley, and patron, Councillor Betty Hughes, attending the event.
It has cost £4,000 to put the platform in place. It has been funded with grants from Wychavon District Council and the Environment Agency.
Coun Mrs Hughes MBE said they were thrilled that the facility was in place.
"It's going to be a great advantage to disabled anglers," she said. "It's so important for them - it's great therapy for them and it gets them out and helps them to enjoy themselves."
