WORCESTERSHIRE Cricket Board are in a strong position to reach the ECB 38-County Cup quarter-finals for the first time.
They completed their group matches with a fine eight-wicket victory over Herefordshire at Kidderminster yesterday, with Nathan Round hitting a century against his former county.
But they must now wait to find out if they have reached the last eight. Warwickshire Cricket Board can still pip them on net run rate if they win their final match against Herefordshire at Brockhampton on July 7 -- but defeat would take Worcestershire into a home quarter-final on August 1 against Norfolk or Lincolnshire.
Round and Gurdeep Kandola were the batting stars as Worcestershire successfully chased a challenging target of 270 in 50 overs.
They shared an unbroken third-wicket stand of 181, Round's 113 not out containing eight fours, while Kandola hit an unbeaten 88 with a six and 10 fours.
Hereford were indebted to Chris Boroughs (88 no) and Paul Lazenbury (87) for their total of 269-8.
