LEGS 11 star Kelvin Reilly has undergone an operation to repair extensive damage to his hands after a horror crash at Rockingham.

Reilly, lead rider for the Redditch-based team, suffered extensive damage to both hands after clashing with Phil Giles in what team manager Dave Worthington described as 'a racing incident.'

The Wimbledon-based rider came off his bike after a collision with Giles on a straight at about 100mph.

He skinned his left hand to the knuckle and severed tendons on his right with a deep gash across his little finger.

Reilly had climbed to fifth after starting 13th on the grid and looked set for his highest finish of the season after holding the position for half the race on the controversial circuit.

He was operated on at a London hospital on Monday and Worthington said he would be doubtful for the next round of the series at Knockhill on Saturday, July 6.

The Legs 11 boss could be left with two bikes and no riders for the Scottish meeting because number two Rhys Boyd, who finished 18th after qualifying 23rd, is set for an operation on a troublesome back injury.

Astwood Bank speedster Andy Tinsley said he was disappointed after claiming sixth place.

The Knotts Motorcycles ace slipped one place down the leaderboard after a gearbox problem set him back in qualifying.
