TWO cycling families joined forces to bring home four medals for Bromsgrove Olympique Cycling Club at the weekend.
The Dingley family and Billington family, of Fordhouse Road and Birmingham Road respectively, won a gold medal and three silvers between them at the British School's Cycling Association National Grass Track Championship at York racecourse.
The event consisted of three races - a pursuit, a sprint and a distance race - with an overall points score determining medal positions.
The gold medal went to Francine Billington, who took her second national title in a month in the U16s girls.
But the first medal of the day was won by seven-year-old Jason Dingley, who claimed silver in the U8s.
His brother Ross, aged 14, also won silver but not without a bit of confusion in the distance race.
Thinking it was a three lap race, Ross sprinted for the finish, only to discover it was a four lap race and he had sprinted a lap too early.
He still finished second but, following complaints, the race was re-run and Ross finished third. Despite this though, he still picked up silver overall.
Alex Billington continued the trend, powering his way home in the distance race to move him up from third in the standings to snatch silver.
Genevieve Billington finished fourth in the U12s and the Billington's won the family relay race.
Another busy schedule for the riders continues this week with the time trial series on Thursday as well as races in Halesowen on Friday and Sunday.
