TWO Bromsgrove athletes were on top form as they ran some of their quickest ever times at the English Schools Inter Area Competition.
Daniel Fagan and Sarah Kings, both members of Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club, were selected to run in the event at the Alexander Stadium, in Birmingham, last Saturday.
Fagan ran a personal best time of 23.9secs in the 200m, a time which secured him second place and broke his own Bromsgrove and Redditch record.
The time was also good enough to gain him the qualifying time for the English Schools Athletic Championships to be held in Nottingham in July.
Kings ran a season best of 27.9secs in the 200m to finish third and both runners were selected to represent Worcester in the 4x400m relay.
In the Heart of England League, hosted by the club last Sunday, Kings, Jenni Mole and Sarah Gerner gained valuable points for their club.
Kings won the 100 and 200m with a season best of 13.5secs in the 100m.
Mole was second in the 100m in 13.6secs as well as in the long jump with her best distance of the year of 4.74m. Gerner ran a personal best 14.3secs in the 100m.
On Saturday, June 15, Fagan and Kings, together with Mole and Gerner, represented Bromsgrove and Droitwich in a District Sports competition.
Fagan won the 200m in a time of 24.6secs while Kings was second in the 200m with a time of 28.5secs.
Mole was third in the 100m with a time of 14.3secs before going on to win a bronze medal in the long jump with a leap of 4.54 metres.
