BROMSGROVE will be represented at this summer's Commonwealth Games after a school hockey coach was called into the England squad.
Craig Parnham, hockey coach at Bromsgrove School, in Worcester Road, is part of the 16-man squad heading to Manchester for the games, which start on Thursday, July 25.
Parnham (pictured, right) will be hoping he can help England improve on their bronze medal at the last Commonwealth Games, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, four years ago.
Eight players in the squad, named on Thursday, June 20, were part of the England team that clinched third spot in the 1998 games by defeating India 5-3 on penalties.
England head coach Malcolm Wood said: "This will be a very tough tournament.
"We are playing in front of our home crowd and will do our best to raise the profile of our sport in this country."
