IF Redditch Council seeks to name a street after a Pakistani leader (Advertiser, June 12) there are better choices than Qaid-e-Azam MA Jinnah.

In modern parlance, he was a racist and a zealot.

The speech he made as leader of the Muslim League of India in 1947 leaves little doubt as to his opinions.

He no doubt was a great Pakistani nationalist and was indeed an Islamic scholar, but he is not a good example of how to fashion a multi-ethnic Redditch.

The council should choose a more appropriate role model.
