Hereford pole vaulter Irie Hill continued her recent run of great form with victory at the Domspitzmilch Springen event, held in Regensburg, Germany.
After training in Hereford and Cardiff (indoors) over the past week, Hill, who has earned qualification for next month's Commonwealth Games in Manchester, felt confident of a good result.
With balmy temperatures of over 30C (86F) and brilliant sunshine, the preparation could not have been in more stark contrast to the cold and windy conditions of the previous weekend in Manchester.
Also competing from Great Britain was Rhian Clarke, Welsh record holder with 4.15m, and Michaela Bulova the Czech junior record holder with 4.20m -- both marks set last year.
In a close competition all the athletes were very positive at their early heights, with Hill and Clarke neck and neck as the bar reached 4.00m.
Hill won the competition with first time clearances at all her heights, culminating at 4.00m.
She then raised the bar 25cm before narrow failures at the European Championships qualifying height of 4.25m.
After having come down on the bar three times from above Hill said: "It was good to know that I am capable of jumping that high.
"I really needed to get the confidence back jumping at higher heights and the past two weeks have done this.
"I want to be able to compete in Munich at the Europeans, and I am sure that the qualification will come in time for the trials in July."
Hill will compete in Switzerland this week.
