A £75,000 traffic calming scheme to cut speed along Studley Road is set to be completed in the next few weeks.

The work, from Holloway Lane and Burton Lane in the north to Auxerre Avenue in the south will improve road safety and reduce dangers for Oak Hill first and Woodfield and St Bede's middle school pupils as part of the Safer Routes to School scheme.

The project also includes installing traffic signals at Barlich Way, cycle lanes to both sides and street lighting improvements.

A county council spokesman said the work was due to be completed by mid-July.

The proposals were displayed at a public exhibition last year and Studley Road residents who attended agreed speeds needed to be cut.
