THE 22-year-old's debut album is a mixture of blues and country with a healthy helping of jazz thrown in.

But Norah isn't the type of girl who would feature in the Fast Show's jazz club slot - she's way too cool for that.

It's a bit disappointing that she only wrote or co-wrote three songs on the album - Come Away With Me, Nightingale and The Long Day is Over - because this brief taster of her own work demonstrates she has a great talent for songwriting.

The rest are apparently covers including a fantastic version of The Nearness Of You.

There aren't any real stand out tracks on the album, it's all pretty good, but those which lean more toward jazz and blues than country - Don't Know Why, Cold Cold Heart, Come Away With Me, Turn Me On and I've Got To See You Again have the edge.

But her voice, which alternates between silky smooth and husky drawl is well suited to any of these styles.

In fact, the album probably doesn't do her voice justice. She seems the kind of singer who would be even better live (smoky club, piano and double bass optional).
