THE funds of local Macmillan nurses and a stroke charity are set to benefit from cash raised during the new president of North Worcestershire Rotary Club's year in office.
John Rogers, director of services at Bromsgrove School, takes over the role next Monday. He succeeds out-going president Peter Mellar.
Mr Rogers, who lives in Finstall, became a Rotarian in 1993.
Apart from his keen interest in the international movement, he is also president of the Bromsgrove branch of the Royal British Legion and sits on the committee of the Bromsgrove Music Festival.
Naming the two charities he plans to support, he said: "Strokes are one of the biggest killers in the UK and I hope to organise a local stroke awareness day in conjunction with a local health centre."
