A CITY theatre near Bromsgrove, which has delighted adults and children alike over the years with a mixture of drama, music, dance and song, is delighted to appoint a new theatre director.
Thirty-nine-year-old Stuart Griffiths will take up his new role at the Hippodrome Theatre, in Hurst Street, this September following the departure of his predecessor Peter Tod, who left in May.
The 39-year-old Yorkshire man, who is married with two children, has been director of the Wycombe Swan with overall responsibility for its programming, operation and financial performance since 1992.
He said: "I am thrilled to have been offered this post at a time when the Hippodrome has expanded following a spectacular rebuilding project.
"I look forward to taking up the post in September and developing the theatre as a great centre for the arts."
Theatre chairman Chris Kirk said: "Following the theatre's recent £30 million redevelopment, Stuart has the experience, knowledge and creativity that is vital to carry it through this challenging and exciting period of the Hippodrome's history.
"And I believe Stuart will make a valued contribution to what is already an established and successful theatre."
