BROMSGROVE planners are fighting proposals to build a bypass through the district for fear it will carve up the countryside and turn into another motorway.
Bromsgrove District Council will not support the Stourbridge Western Bypass, which will cut through green belt land in Hagley.
The local planning authority claims that the road, aimed at easing pressure on the busy M5 and M6, will provide no regeneration benefits for the area which it's due to serve.
Latest proposals by the West Midlands Local Government Planning Conference could see the route pass under Hagley linking to the A491 and then onto the M5.
