THE Commonwealth Games look set to come to Droitwich Spa when more than 100 children take part in a sporting extravaganza.
A Mini Commonwealth Games event is due to be held at Droitwich Spa High School and Droitwich Leisure Centre, both in Briar Mill, tomorrow (Thursday).
Youngsters from Westacre, Witton, Parkside, Aston Fields, Hindlip, St Peter's and Tibberton schools will be competing in a variety of competitions, including swimming, gymnastics, athletics, football and tennis.
The main aim of the day is to introduce youngsters to sport and for them to enjoy playing as part of a team.
The day is being organised by six students from the high school who are taking their Community Sports Leaders Award.
One of the Mini Commonwealth Games organisers, Rachel Harrison, said: "This has been a great opportunity for us to experience what it is like to organise an event.
"It has really opened our eyes to how much work is involved, although we have all really enjoyed it.
"We are sure that the pupils who take part will really enjoy it as well as the main focus of the day is definitely on the children having fun."
