A ROAD used as a diversion for buses during the major works in the town centre has been closed off after it collapsed.
A large hole appeared in Britten Street on Friday after a water main burst and highways engineers have been working round the clock to fix the problem.
Buses had been diverted along the road because the bottom of Unicorn Hill to Plymouth Road has been closed.
But now it looks like a second diversion will be put in to replace the first diversion.
County highways manager for Redditch Jim Casey said: "Buses and traffic have now been diverted along Hewell Road, Batchley Road, Willow Way, Bromsgrove Road and back to the town centre."
He added: "We don't know how long it will be closed as the water company is also carrying out repairs."
