CUTNALL Green CC batsman Neil Fletcher was in a class of his own last weekend as he knocked in two centuries in the space of 24 hours.

Fletcher hit an unbeaten 131 not out on Saturday as his side completed a commanding 10-wicket trouncing of Hanley Castle and Upton in Worcestershire County League division five.

But, despite compiling 120 on Sunday, he could not stop Green crashing to a seven-wicket defeat to Tewkesbury.

Green won the toss on Saturday, putting the hosts into bat, and were made to sweat it out as Hanley Castle notched 199-8. Derek Higgins was the pick of the bowling, taking 3-27.

Some excellent fielding from Green was capped when Chris Higgins crucially caught Matthews (78).

In reply, Fletcher and Derek Higgins (50no) wrapped up the victory.

But the tables were turned on Sunday as Green won the toss and batted first.

Fletcher led the way with his 120 before the attack faded to 199-8.

Tewkesbury, in reply, maintained a steady run rate and did not lose a wicket until the 21st over while on 103 runs.

They reached their target in the 34th, thanks mainly to P Baker's 105, assisted by T Brown (41).
