THE family of a stag night reveller who is fighting for his life after falling through a roof in Worcester are "devastated", according to a family friend.
The parents of Tom Wilkes are conducting a bedside vigil at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where Tom is lying in a critical condition, after a night out in Worcester ended in tragedy.
Music lover Tom, of Dudley Road, Sedgley, went missing at around 1am on Sunday morning during a stag night held in the city to mark his cousin's wedding.
"Nice lad"
He was found more than 48 hours later on the second floor of Cromwell Street fruit market, and is believed to have fallen around 15 feet through the roof onto a concrete floor, sustaining serious head injuries.
Dudley Councillor Margaret Aston, who represents the Castle and Priory ward in the town, knew Tom as a child.
"He was lovely, he was a really nice lad who was always friendly," she said.
"He used to come round our house all the time to play with my son Adam and I really liked him."
The 21-year-old attended Cotwall End Primary, Sedgley, and then Dormston School, Millbank, Sedgley.
Devastated
"All the family are devastated and we are just hoping and praying Thomas comes round," another close friend said.
"All I can say is he is a lovely lad who was always smiling.
"If you were on the other side of the road he'd come over just to say hello to you.
"I am proud to know Thomas. Everyone loved him, he had so many friends."
The environmental health department of Worcester City Council is investigating the accident.
Roy Fido, head of environmental health, said it was early days, and the investigation was continuing.
