A BUSINESSMAN from Worcestershire put his best foot forward and raised more than £4,000 in a marathon challenge for one of the country's most popular charities.

The sum, raised by Mal McColl from Bishampton, will go to Macmillan Cancer Relief, which the charity will use to improve services to cancer patients across Worcestershire.

Mr McColl, who owns Ki-Hara Chemicals Ltd, in Birmingham, was one of the successful finishers in this year's London Marathon in April.

Villagers and regulars at The Dolphin Pub got behind his fund-raising efforts, with landlord Dave Meredith and landlady Jane Evans collecting £1,100 towards the total.

"I am delighted to have raised such a large sum of money for such a good cause," said Mr McColl.

"I have only just moved to Bishampton and local people have been incredibly generous in support of this wonderful cause."
