THE inquest has opened into the death of Worcester schoolgirl Lelaina Hall who died after sinking in mud while on holiday in Somerset.
The hearing at Weston-super-Mare's coroner's office heard how Lelaina, of Pitchcroft Lane, Barbourne, was rescued from the beach at Brean, near Burnham-on-Sea, on Sunday, together with a family friend, but later died in intensive care at nearby Weston General Hospital.
The inquest into the death of the youngster , was adjourned.
Meanwhile, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) was urging people to follow its Sea Smart campaign, which attempts to reduce the number of incidents occuring around British coasts.
