BADSEY SOCIETY: The Chairman, Tony Jerram announced that he was pleased by the response from the villagers to the recently formed Society. He added that by the time of the Society's first event, the staging of an exhibition of historical market gardening tools at Badsey First School Fete on Saturday, July 6, the membership will be in treble figures. Local historian, Terry Sparrow, is urging locals who have not yet subscribed to his proposed book on the history of Badsey and Aldington to contact him soon as they may miss out on the specially reduced price along with having their names inserted in the book as subscribers. The book, a second edition, containing dozens of old photographs and maps has been completely re-written and updated and is twice as large as the original which was first published in the eighties. The Society's long term plans include a book on Badsey School, an asparagus festival, quiz nights, talks, walks and an introduction to local cider. On July 27, the Society's celebrated genealogy section, will hold an exhibition at Badsey Flower Show featuring the infamous 1901 Census.
