In his address President Gerald Canvin congratulated Michael on his constant enthusiasm and drive. This had resulted in the award of Technical College status to The High School. In order to achieve this the school had to raise £55,000 of which The Rotary Club contributed £5,000.
On the evening Michael was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, for services to education and the community. This is the highest tribute that Rotary can pay.
