IT seems a sad state of affairs when party politics and poor losers try to denigrate what appears to be the most important thing to the community at large.

Good health is a gift - the means to ensure we all have the best of attention at all times is not.

Independent politics in local government is ideal.

Our local health group prefix their name with "Independent" and seem to try to live up to that.

The snide remarks which have been published are regrettable.

Some people believe that money has always been the driving force behind the new hospital at Worcester. So an article in the British Medical Association Journal recently proved interesting.

It stated: "If the Worcester Hospital had been publicly funded, the cost to the National Health Service would have been £6.8 million. Under the Privately Funded Initiative, which was used by Worcester, the cost to the NHS will be £9.3 million, with the extra having to come from stretched budgets for other local services. PFI is more expensive than public funding..."

Confirmation of all our suspicions.

I am sure no-one would argue with the fact that Worcester itself needed a new hospital, but not at the expense of Kidderminster Hospital.
