HARD work behind the scenes at Mostyn Rangers has paid off after they were named Worcestershire Football Association's club of the year for 2001/02.
Mostyn, who received the coveted award at their presentation night, became the first county club to be handed a charter standard by the FA last season.
They run teams for boys aged between seven and 18 in the Stourport Youth League and Mercian Elgar League as well as boasting an U-14s girls outfit and men's side.
Mostyn chairman Derek Senior said: "This is another great boost to the club.
"We have a dedicated team of people who are committed to ensuring out club goes from strength to strength and this is great recognition for everybody involved.
"I feel we can now rightly claim Mostyn Rangers is the premier club in the district."
The charter standard acted as a seal of approval for parents of youngsters who want to play football.
Mostyn had to introduce child protection policies, offer a safe environment and ensure all their team managers were FA qualified coaches.
Club secretary Chris Trickett added: "We have had a lot of support from the Worcestershire Football Association and I would like to thank Andy Norman and his colleagues for enabling us to make significant progress on and off the field.
"Over 150 children train or play competitive football each week in our club and this award will hopefully assist us to further enhance our reputation."
